White OLED is the OLED electron that emits white light in single and/or multiple organic materials. The research of white OLED is being progressed due to its high efficiency as the source of light. Especially, white OLED has high change of being industrialized as display and lighting field, active research is being progressed by enterprises. White OLED in Display is used as a method to realize the color display by using the OLED. It had become known that the method of using white OLED and color filter technology has more advantage on manufacturing the AMOLED. Also, white OLED using the color conversion technique is being practiced. Currently, GE is using the Blue Polymer color conversion WOLED to change the blue into white to develop a high efficient white OLED and they presented the method of using the WOLED color conversion method to publics. In Korea, a research of applying white OLED into backlight is being progressed by KDT.
A research on white OLED as lighting usage is more being progressed. There is a high expectation among foreign countries of white OLED as a future main lighting method. Osram, Philips, GE, and other international lighting enterprises are concentrating the research on white OLED as a next generation of fluorescent lamps. White OLED, a thin, high brightness, and natural light that is very familiar to humans, provided a high chance to be used as lighting machinery in the future.
